ASOKA Kohila Yam in Brine is sliced kohila (Lasia spinosa) root vegetable preserved in salted water, packed in a 600 g glass jar (350 g drained) and made in Sri Lanka. Kohila yam, called kohila ala in Sinhala, is a traditional ingredient in Sri Lankan home cooking. The jar contains only three ingredients: kohila yam, water and salt.
How to use
Open the jar, drain the brine and rinse the yam, then cook it as you would any firm root vegetable, for example in a Sri Lankan curry. The yam is salted, so taste before adding more salt. Cooking directions are not printed on the photographed label.
