Detailed description
What it is. Lakmathi is the name CIC uses for its Sri Lankan-grown long-grain rice positioned as a local alternative to imported basmati, and Special Red is a distinct grade within that range. The pack does not state how its milling differs from the standard Red Lakmathi bag; the pack you receive is the authority on that point.
Ingredients. This is plain uncooked rice. Any ingredient statement is printed on the pack.
Allergens. No allergen statement is printed on the pack that we can confirm; check the pack if you have a specific allergy.

FAQs
What is Lakmathi rice?
Lakmathi is a Sri Lankan-grown long-grain rice that CIC positions as a local alternative to imported basmati. It cooks long and fairly separate but with less aroma than Indian or Pakistani basmati. The red versions keep bran on the grain for a nuttier taste.
What does Special mean here?
Special Red is a separate grade from the standard Red Lakmathi bag in CIC's range. The milling difference from the pack itself, so if you need a particular grade, check the pack description or ask us before ordering.
Is it real basmati?
Not in the protected-origin sense; basmati proper is grown in the Indo-Gangetic plain. This is a long-grain variety grown in Sri Lanka and marketed as basmathi-style. Expect a slightly shorter, less perfumed grain that still works well for biryani.
Is a nutrition panel available?
Not yet for this pack. The Nutrition Facts panel printed on the bag applies; please refer to it for per-serving values. Plain uncooked rice is labelled by the 1/4 cup dry (45 g) serving on CIC packs.
How should I store a 10 lb bag of rice?
Keep it cool, dry and sealed, ideally decanted into an airtight container or bin once opened. Rice keeps for many months this way. Freezing the bag for 48 hours on arrival is a common precaution against pantry moths in warm US kitchens.
How does shipping work for a 10 lb bag?
It is a bulk item, so instead of free standard shipping it carries one flat bulk-shipping fee based on the total bulk weight in your order, starting at $8.99 for up to 15 lb and charged once per order rather than per bag. Free pickup at our Bohemia, New York warehouse avoids the fee entirely.
