Overview

MD Green Jak Curry is a ready-to-eat Sri Lankan curry made from young green jackfruit (polos), sold in a 520 g can. The can is marked “Just & Eat”: heat it and serve it with rice, roti or string hoppers. Polos curry is a classic Sri Lankan home dish, with the unripe jackfruit cooked until tender in a dark, spiced gravy.

How to use

Open the can, tip the curry into a saucepan and warm it gently over low heat, stirring now and then, or warm it in a microwave-safe bowl until hot. Serve with steamed rice, string hoppers, roti or bread. Do not heat in the can.

What it is

Young green jackfruit (polos) cooked as a Sri Lankan curry. The jackfruit is tender but meaty, which is why polos curry is a popular vegetable curry on a rice-and-curry table. The can is ready to eat, so no cooking is needed beyond warming it.

Serving ideas

Alongside rice with dhal and a sambol; with string hoppers or hoppers for breakfast; spooned into a roti or bread roll as a filling; added to a rice-and-curry plate with a papadam.
