MD Mustard Cream is a smooth, spiced prepared mustard from Sri Lanka, sold in a 360 g glass jar. The label names it Mustard Cream in English, Sinhala and Tamil. It is the mustard Sri Lankan kitchens serve with fried sausages, cutlets, short eats and sandwiches, and it is milder and creamier than a sharp American yellow mustard.
How to use
What it is
A thick, pale-yellow mustard paste speckled with mustard seed and spice, smoother and richer than grainy or hot English mustard. In Sri Lanka it is the standard table mustard for devilled and fried dishes, and it is sold in the same glass jar as other MD condiments.
Serving ideas
A spoonful with hot sausages and chips; a spread inside a Sri Lankan-style sandwich with egg and tomato; a glaze brushed on chicken before grilling; a dip with a splash of lime and honey.
